THE BASICS: Barbara Wesel from Deutsche Welle writes that there was no legitimacy to Blair’s decision to invade Iraq in 2003 because there was no imminent threat to the UK and he is now culpable for all the death and chaos in the Middle East, none of which he has apologized for, whereas Niall Ferguson of the Boston Globe writes that Blair has graciously expressed his regret and apologies for his decision, and in the midst of all the criticism, individuals have to keep in mind that the population is condemning him only with the luxury of 20/20 hindsight, when in reality, we cannot say what could have happened if Blair did not back Bush in Iraq.
